Bring a valid photo ID, comfortable clothing appropriate for the range and weather, and any course-specific materials listed in your registration confirmation. If your class includes live-fire training, you will receive instructions regarding firearms, ammunition, eye and ear protection, and other required equipment before class. Do not bring a loaded firearm into the classroom unless specifically instructed and permitted to do so.

The simplest option is an established public or private shooting range where you are authorized to shoot. Shooting on private property may also be permitted in some circumstances, but state law, local ordinances, property restrictions, and safe-discharge requirements can apply. Training locations vary depending on the course. Classroom instruction may be conducted at an approved private location, while live-fire portions are conducted at an appropriate range or facility.

When a course includes a completion certificate, it will be issued only after the participant satisfies the applicable attendance, safety, knowledge, practical, and course-completion requirements. Payment or attendance alone does not guarantee certification.
